Getting Your Child's Login Information and Troubleshooting
Last updated: August 20, 2026
Your child has their own Scout login, separate from your parent account, which they use to view their assignments, grades, and schedule. This article explains how to get your child's login information and what to do if they're having trouble signing in.
Overview
Parent accounts and student accounts are separate in Scout. Your parent account lets you view your child's information, but your child uses their own email address and password to sign in and see their own Scout home page. If your child doesn't know their login information, the school can look it up or reset it for you.
For your own parent account credentials, see Signing up for your Scout parent account and Resetting your password.
Getting your child's login information
Scout doesn't display another person's password for security reasons, so you won't be able to look up your child's password yourself. To get your child's login information:
Contact your child's teacher or your school's front office.
Ask them to confirm the email address on file for your child's Scout account, or to send a password reset.
The school can trigger a password reset email or code to the email address on file for your child.
Helping your child log in
Once you have your child's email address:
Go to your school's Scout site.
Enter your child's email address and password.
If prompted, enter the verification code sent to the email address on file.
Click Sign In.
If your child doesn't have a password yet, or has forgotten it, click Forgot your password? on the login page and follow the prompts. A code will be sent to the email address on file — ask the school if you're not sure which email that is.
Troubleshooting
Issue | What to do |
I don't know my child's login email | Ask your child's teacher or the school office to confirm the email address on file for your child's account. |
My child forgot their password | Click Forgot your password? on the login page, enter the email address on file, and follow the emailed code to set a new password. |
The verification code never arrives | Check the spam or junk folder for the email address on file. If it still doesn't arrive, ask the school to confirm the email address is correct, then request a new code. |
"Account not found" error | Double-check the email address with the school — it must match exactly what's on file for your child. |
My child has more than one class or school | Your child uses a single Scout login no matter how many classes or sections they're enrolled in. |
Tips
Keep your child's login information somewhere secure — treat it like any other password.
Encourage your child to sign out when using a shared or public computer.
If your child's email address changes, let the school know so their Scout account stays up to date.
